What do you mean, blogging isn’t easy?
When I first started a blog, I thought it would be a fun way to get my creative juices flowing. I mean, how hard could it be to set up a website and write about things. Fun things, but still just things. Yeah, it was a wee bit harder than I thought it would be. I pictured myself busily typing Hemingway-worthy prose after jaunting to important events. Oops! Not quite reality. Rather than me throwing together a quick website, I found myself Googling how to do this or that (I Googled endlessly). How can it be so hard to figure out how to put a “tweet this” button on a website? And instead of going to fabulous events, I went photographing the great outdoors in the middle of freezing cold January.
But along the way, I made some friends, I visited some new places, I discovered that some so-called important events weren’t that much fun (and some of the not-so-important events were super fun), and I ate a lot. So. Much. Food. And I wrote. And I wrote. And I wrote some more. Until I discovered that I really enjoyed this writing business. I’ve been writing for years, but this is the first time that I’ve taken the time to actually focus on it and it’s so rewarding! I enjoy writing about Regina, but I also love writing about other things. And I get a kick out of social media. It can be annoying, that’s true, but so many of the people on social media are so fantastic. They share things, and they encourage each other. I feel like social media is here to stay and I want a front seat to enjoy the ride.
I hope I enrich your life in some small way, even if it is just by finding out about a great Regina person or event (and there are a ton of those!). Saskatchewan and Canada might have some of the most beautiful people and places in the world. I am having the best time blogging and I am thrilled that so many of you are joining me for this ride.
I Heart Regina values your ideas, feedback, and sponsorship. If you have any ideas to share or if you want to work with me, send me an email at email@example.com. I love reviewing events and places, so send me a note if you want to hang out or have me at your event.
